Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a relaxed, focused, and intentional way to invite gentle change into your way of being. Through relaxation and focused attention, hypnotherapy helps you connect with the subconscious mind — the part of you that holds patterns, beliefs, emotions, and automatic responses.

In this relaxed state, we can work with the subconscious mind to invite change, increase awareness, and explore the patterns or deeply held beliefs that may be shaping how you feel and respond. Hypnotherapy sessions may be therapist-led, using hypnotic suggestions discussed ahead of time, or they may involve a more active exploration of the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy is not about giving up control. It is about helping you feel more connected to yourself, so you can create more choice, freedom, and intention in the life you want to live. Your mind accepts what feels right for you.

Begins with a Conversation

Hypnotherapy begins with a conversation about what you want to work on. You and your therapist will discuss your goals, what you hope to change, and where you may want to connect more deeply before the hypnosis portion of the session begins. From there, your therapist will guide you through relaxation and into a deeper hypnotic state before beginning the work you have chosen together.

Hypnosis often feels more familiar than people expect similar to being deeply absorbed in a book, driving a familiar route, or becoming so focused on something that the rest of the room fades into the background. In this relaxed state, you and your therapist can work with the subconscious mind to increase awareness, explore patterns or deeply held beliefs, and invite new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding.

Some hypnotherapy sessions are calm and deeply relaxing, where you simply listen to therapeutic or post-hypnotic suggestions that you and your therapist have discussed ahead of time. Other sessions may be more active or emotionally intense as you connect with deeper feelings, memories, or pain that wants to be seen, understood, and released.

Can Lead to Deeper Acceptance and Freedom to Choose

Hypnosis is not about giving up control. You are not asleep, unconscious, or under someone else’s control. You remain an active participant throughout the session and can pause, speak, ask questions, or redirect the work at any time. In fact, hypnotherapy is intended to help you feel more connected to yourself, so you can gain greater understanding, choice, freedom, and control in your waking life. Your mind accepts what feels right for you.

Many people remember everything that happens during hypnotherapy. Over time, some notice that the changes show up naturally in daily life, sometimes without much conscious effort. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind’s powerful capacity for imagination, learning, and change to support meaningful shifts in how you think, feel, and move through the world.

The goal is not to turn you into someone different. It is to help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that already hold insight, creativity, resilience, and the capacity for change. Sometimes your inner flame has not gone out at all,  it may simply need space, attention, and support to be uncovered, reignited, and strengthened. As that light grows brighter, it can become a steadier guide toward the life you want to live.
